Look closely at what happens between scraping and paint
Removal can expose torn drywall paper, taped joints, fastener marks and previous patches. Ask whether those repairs are included as normal preparation or treated as additional work. If the contractor proposes skim coating, confirm whether it is full-field or limited to problem areas.
In larger homes, identify high or vaulted sections separately so access requirements are not buried in a general square-foot quote.
A strong review profile still needs a clear written estimate
Reviews can help with initial screening, but the contract should tell you how rooms are protected, how dust is controlled, who handles fixtures, what coatings are included and how cleanup is completed.
If the texture is older and its composition is unknown, discuss testing before work. The material question should be settled independently from the contractor's sales process.
